A few days ago, we went to Eno Terra for a special relaxing dinner. This is always the perfect place for that! Eno Terra is located in Kingston, New Jersey on the site of the old historic Winepress restaurant from long ago.

As you pull in to the parking lot you’ll notice the simple quaint appearance of the restaurant. When you exit your car, you are treated to a wonderful aroma from the oak and cherry wood burning stove inside. This aroma immediately puts you in a relaxed state of mind. It is true aromatherapy for the senses. We always take our time walking in, to savor this aroma for as long as possible.

There are two connected parts of the restaurant. The right hand side is the very tasteful and classy wine bar with high ceilings and views of hundreds of wine bottles, all very nicely displayed. If you like wine, this is the place for you. There are many fine wines available from their extensive wine list, from reasonably priced to very expensive.

To the left, is the dining room. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. You feel like you’ve entered your home – your “dream home”. Everything is tasteful and stylish with a relaxed feel. The interior colors accentuate the artwork, stone  and wood treatments.  There is a bread, meat and cheese cutting station with a stone wall as a backdrop. Take a few minutes to look around.  You will be pleasantly captivated. The staff will be happy to give you a tour of the facility and even take you upstairs to the party rooms overlooking the downstairs. You will definitely be impressed with Eno Terra‘s attractive fine wine storage.

“Eat local” defines Eno Terra. Most of the ingredients that are used in their food are grown within 50 miles of the restaurant.  They have a strong commitment to supporting local businesses and farms… and it is is all delicious! You can, read more about their philosophy on their website below.

All of the servers we have experienced at Eno Terra are excellent and high quality. They are very professional, yet friendly and down to earth.  Tonight, we had Steve and Eric.  They both helped make the experience an enjoyable and relaxing one. All of the staff is great and regularly make sure we have everything we need. You feel totally taken care of at Eno Terra.

Our wine selection was the Trittico Poggio al Sole Super Tuscan 2006 wine from Italy. This was truly a wonderful red wine that makes you go mmmm.  We were served a basket of artisan breads.   The bread is served with olive oil with a litle drizzle of white bean puree in the middle for dipping. There is truly something special about their olive oil.  The taste is phenomenal. All of their breads are made fresh and available for purchase at the Witherspoon Bread Company. The parent company, Terra Momo owns that too.  To start, we ordered the Salumi and Formaggi appetizer. It really makes you feel like you are in Europe. It is an assortment of cheeses, warm freshly roasted cashews, olives, sliced meats and wonderful home made bread sticks. The taste of the blue cheese was amazing.

Our dinner entree was the double cut pork chop, prepared medium rare.  This came with wilted spinach, a crispy potato pancake and candied spring onions. The taste of the meat was supreme and was hinted with the oak and cherry wood smoke flavor that you preview in the parking lot.  The potato pancake was truly a treat as well.

We did not order a dessert but were treated to a tray of delicious freshly baked chocolate cookies with some fresh blueberries. What a nice ending to our meal!

Our experience was truly terrific.  Our servers and hosts all helped to make that happen. You leave Eno Terra feeling like you have just had a spa experience – a “food spa”.  What a nice concept!

I cannot BELEIVE you guys are RECOMMENDING this place. I’m sure the food was delish. But you forgot to mention that your antipasto platter was $24, and your pork chop was $29. COME ON! Those prices are more than The MANOR in West Orange, NJ. So of course the food should be outstanding. Leave it to NJ to serve overpriced food in a barn, and call it “quaint”. You two should be ashamed of ourselves. And you should DEFINITELY iclude prices in your reviews; that makes all the difference in the world.

Wow, we certainly see that tact is not in your repertoire. But we will keep this positive as we like to be.

Firstly, our motto is Good Food, Good People, Good Times. So the experience is the key, not the price alone. We review on the food, the service and the atmosphere and also give the restaurant website address for more information, such as pricing etc. We have also been including general pricing categories for over a year now, but do need to go back to our earlier reviews to update those as well.

It is a shame that your experience at Eno Terra was not as wonderful as ours. The price certainly was not a factor for us as the food, service and experience was superior. You do not need to be ashamed of yourself, being that you felt it was too expensive for you. Be proud of NJ and our restaurants. We certainly are.

    Hey guys!

I cannot beleive you are criticizing MY review for being TACTLESS.  Perhaps you are millionaires, you are being paid by the restaurants, or you are 2 single guys who have nothing better to spend your money on.  There is NO reason to spend that kind of money on a meal.

I never said I went to ENO; I said it’s crazy to rate such an expensive place.  Why bother?  If I spent that kind of money ANYWHWERE I would EXPECT “GOOD FOOD, GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD TIMES”, as your slogan states.  So your review is useless.

Thanks for getitng back to me; I have passed your Email on to all of my firends, and they agree with my comments.Mar 19, 2011 08:54:17 PM, wrote:

    Zilla-

After reading your last response, we feel that you either have something against Eno Terra or against Food Reviewers in general. You, in fact, did not even eat at Eno Terra and could not have done a review on something you did not experience first hand. Being that you did, in fact, find out the prices ahead of time and knew exactly what they were, we do not understand the point of your initial comment on our website. Your point was that we should have published prices in our review. However, you had already looked them up.

Our website is about positive things, good times and people. It is our choice on which restaurants that we review and only ours. It is everyone’s choice as to which restaurants they will try out as with anything in our fine country of USA. You had already chosen to not eat at Eno Terra because of the costs involved. There was no need for you to make a non-constructive antagonistic comment in the first place.

We feature restaurants of all price ranges, but we do only feature positive places we have been to. It is not in our nature to bad mouth anyone and it certainly feels you find the need to do that, not only to us, but to a fine restaurant as Eno Terra. We uphold our principles of being upstanding respectful citizens and will not be in a back and forth meaningless dialog with you.
