We had a really fantastic experience at Via 45, located in Red Bank, NJ. It was truly an experience characterizing our motto, “Good Food, Good People, Good Times”. Via 45 is a rustic BYOB Italian restaurant with a really relaxed, quaint and casual atmosphere. Our dinner was a really delicious family style dinner with several of our good friends that we definitely want to relive again sometime. We had all attended an Art show that Via 45 hosted for our famous artist friend, Stephanie. There were 12 of us and we all sat very comfortably at a really cool wooden table in the center of the restaurant. It felt like we were in someone’s home in Tuscany and we felt right at home for sure. The entire time, we felt relaxed and never rushed and were able to take in the delicate intoxicating aromas of the food being prepared in the kitchen.
One can see how much pride the restaurant owners, Claudette and Lauren take in their restaurant and on their cooking and they do their best to make you feel pampered, content and well fed for sure. Their menu changes and is always based on fresh ingredients. Claudette is an Italian food chef, while Lauren is the pastry chef. Our server for the evening, was Kiera, who really added to the pleasantness of our Sunday dinner experience.
Our feast started off with a healthy serving of warm freshly baked breads and olive oil. The bread was delicious! We actually couldn’t stop eating the rolls. The first delicacy that we were served was Sweet Sausage with Broccoli Rabe and Large White Beans, sauteed with olive oil, garlic and white wine. The taste was wonderful. It was fresh and bursting with flavor. The sausage was unbelievably amazing! The broccoli rabe was tender and not overpowering. The white beans were tasty and full bodied and the size of large lima beans. Yummy! This sensation made it to our Must Eat category.
We were then served a wonderful presentation of Fresh Mozzerella, Roasted Peppers and Sliced Artichoke Hearts. This was all delicately drizzled with sweet balsamic vinegar and sprinkled with freshly chopped basil. It was so pretty that we felt bad disrupting the presentation. The taste was wonderful and delicious.
Our next course was Tri-color Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce which was also tasty. Now, if it had some of that wonderful sausage in it…oh man!
We were then served Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Red Onion…mmm good! Last but definitely not least, we were served Chicken which was sauteed with rosemary, lemon and white wine. This was outstanding! The chicken was tender and the lemon wine sauce really complimented it in a delicate way.
For dessert, we were served a multitude (and I do mean multitude! ) of warm freshly prepared desserts including: Chocolate Ridge Raspberry Brownie; Caramel Banana Bread Pudding; White Chocolate Creme Brulee; Dark Chocolate Creme Brulee; Warm Chocolate Cake with a White Chocolate Center; All Butter Pound Cake; and lastly, Banana with Chocolate Frangipane in Puff Pastry. Wow! What an assemblage of delights. They were all yummy! Needless to say, Ren and I have been at the gym 24 hours a day every day since that dinner. ;-)
To sum it all up, this experience was truly one to remember. It was like we all teleported to Italy for a sensational Sunday dinner. It was really so much fun and the food was truly exquisite. We will definitely go to Via 45 again and we thank Claudette, Lauren and Kiera for a dinner to remember. Now, back to the gym to work off those desserts.
