The Squirt: Relaxing Atmosphere and Great Combination of Ethnicities – Hungarian & German
Must Eats: Chicken Paprikas with Hungarian Dumplings
Prices: Reasonable
Ren and I had a great dinner at Lokal, a little Hungarian – German restaurant in downtown Sonoma, right near the town square. It was a tasteful small restaurant, with nice colors and a friendly staff. A bonus was that it was not crowded the night we went, which enhanced the relaxing experience for us. Our server for the evening was Alison, who was cordial and very accommodating. She never rushed us and was really cool with us asking a lot of questions about the menu and bringing us sharing plates. The Squirt: Great BYOB restaurant for excellent authentic Greek food.
Must Eat: Arni Souvlas; Beefteki
Prices: Moderate
Ren and I went for Greek food at Pithari Taverna with our good friends, Stephanie and Dina. Ren had never had Greek food before and this was the perfect time to have him try it. Pithari is a really excellent authentic BYOB Greek restaurant located in Highland Park, NJ. It has a really excellent atmosphere which makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into Greece. We picked a Friday night, which is a busy night at Pithari and kind of loud but it was a really great experience anyway. The tables are close together so it was great that we had good table neighbors, Ron and Brian. They were a lot of fun and it was enjoyable sitting next to them. (more…)

Sahara Restaurant New Brunswick, NJ
A few nights ago we went to Sahara, a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant located in New Brunswick, NJ. This is one of our favorite ethnic BYOB restaurants. It is also reasonably priced for the generous amount of food that you are served. We have always received a very warm hello upon entering, and have had very friendly and efficient service. That night was no exception. It was a beautiful warm sunny evening and the entire atmosphere made you feel like you were actually dining in the Mediterranean. The long windows were open, allowing a nice gentle breeze into the restaurant and there were people dining outside. We did choose the inside dining room however, near the windows. That way, we had the best of both worlds. (more…)
