Pat's Colonial Kitchen, Newtown, PA

Pat's Colonial Kitchen, Newtown, PA

Pat’s Colonial Kitchen is a really exceptional little restaurant located on South State Street in Newtown, Pennsylvania.  It is located within the historic Whitehall building which was originally a hotel from 1843 to 1979.  During the early 80′s is almost burned to the ground but it reopened in 1983 after being extensively renovated.  Pat’s is family owned and has a feeling like you have stepped right into someone’s home. There are plenty of smiling faces and colonial decorations on the walls. There are also a good amount of signs on the wall that promote good energy. They are open 7 days a week for breakfast and dinner only. Before we went there for the first time last year, we had heard so many people from miles around, raving about Pat’s for their delicious breakfast. Needless to say, we tried it back then and have kept going back ever since. One thing to remember is that Pat’s is only open from 7:00 am until 2:00 pm every day. But they do serve both breakfast and lunch during those hours.

We just came back from the Pineville Tavern located in Pineville, PA. Boy, what a great time we had.  We were celebrating my brother, Alfie’s birthday so it was the usual three of us plus Alfie and my niece, Mellie.  We needed to dine on the earlier side today at around 3pm.  Too bad it was during the lunch time period, as we would have gotten to experience more of their delicious dinner specialties. The other day, Ren and I dined at Oishi in Newtown, PA.  They serve Japanese, Korean and Thai cuisine. We had heard rave reviews about Oishi from our friends who have dined there before, so we decided to give it a TwoSquirts try.  It was definitely a hit with us.  The fact that it is a BYOB establishment, allows you to enjoy a really tasty meal and bring your own favorite libation. Il Gattopardo, Richboro, PA

Il Gattopardo is a wonderful new Italian restaurant located in Richboro, Pennsylvania. After only one time, it has become one of our favorite Italian restaurants. That is not surprising, being that one of the owners is our friend, Benny, former chef at another one of our favorite restaurants in the area.  Benny has a way of working his magic with everything he creates. He is warm, passionate and has a heart of gold. With that combination he will go very far in life. (more…)

Lilly's Cocina Loca, Newtown, PA

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of a leisurely stroll through the streets of Newtown, PA, enjoying their Second Annual “Takin’ it to the Street” Summerfest block party. Not only was the block party a blast, but we also came across Lilly’s Cocina Loca. We peeked in and saw a cute little Mexican getaway, in the heart of Newtown, on Sycamore street. As it was still early, and we were enjoying the street festival, we made reservations for dinner. (more…)

Hello TwoSquirts Fans!  If you are new to our blog, then Welcome!  We hope you enjoy, and stick around!  If you are a loyal reader, then welcome back, you are in for another mouth-watering TwoSquirts review, from your fav foodies, Roy & Ren! :)

Well, once again, we have found ourselves in historic Newtown, PA! We have been drawn to the town recently, and one of the reasons is most certainly the food! ;)   This time we are in yet another historic building.  According to the sign, the Black Horse Tavern was built in 1747.  We couldn’t find anything on the history of the building for you, and we are sure it has housed many fine establishments since 1747, but apparently, it has been the Black Horse Tavern since April 2010!  There is a historic feel both on the outside and the inside, but the food is certainly modern and delicious!

The Saloon, Newtown, PA

The Saloon, Newtown, PA

Recently, we had the opportunity to dine again in Newtown, PA, and we were delighted with yet another excellent meal. This time we ate at The Saloon. The name of this restaurant is a bit deceiving.  The name comes from the fact that the building was built in 1836, and over the years has taken on many functions.  The building has served as a private residence, a jail, a hospital, a church, a speakeasy, and indeed, was also once a Saloon.  Once you go inside, you see that looks (and names) can be deceiving!  Inside is a sleek, contemporary dining experience.  Once inside the doors, you will totally forget that you are in a historic building that is over 150 years old!
